Volkshotel is looking for an enthusiastic sous chef. From early morning until late at night, Volkshotel is a destination for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails. With the Canvas restaurant, Café Werkplaats, and a wide range of events, Volkshotel offers a diverse environment for a sous chef. In this role, you will work directly under the executive chef and share ultimate responsibility for all food operations. Do you enjoy working in a creative, international setting, and do you have at least two years of relevant experience as a chef or sous chef? Then you might just be our new colleague.

Responsibilities:

• You lead the team and manage daily operations for our restaurant, Canvas, and the food events at Volkshotel;

• You train and motivate the kitchen team;

• You oversee food quality;

• You ensure a positive working environment while maintaining full compliance with HACCP standards.
  

What we are looking for:

• At least two years of relevant work experience as a head chef or sous chef;

• You are organized and have strong leadership qualities;

• You are flexible, socially adept and speak fluent English (Dutch is a plus);

• You thrive in a busy environment and maintain a clear overview;

• You have an eye for detail and precision regarding dish presentation;

• You are skilled at efficient workplace planning;

• You are skilled at balancing high quality standards with cost management;

• You do not have a 9-to-5 mentality and are fully committed to the job;

• You live in Amsterdam or the surrounding area;

• Experience with large-scale banqueting events is a plus.
  

What we offer:

It concerns a job for 38 hours a week. Salary is in accordance with the Horeca CAO scale 7. As a Volkshotel employee, you get to stay at the hotel for free once a year.
