For Werkplaats, we are looking for a new barista/bartender. Werkplaats – located on the ground floor of Volkshotel – is a large café with a cozy terrace, and it also offers flexible workspaces for freelancers and self-employed professionals. It’s a meeting place where all sorts of people come together. Werkplaats has two faces: during the day, it’s a haven for coffee lovers, and in the evening, it offers a wide selection of (craft) beers. Events are regularly organized, ranging from photography markets to speed dating and live jazz performances. A typical day: 

Want to stretch before your shift? You can! All employees can join the Volkshotel yoga classes for free. After that, you clock in and begin your shift. The atmosphere in Werkplaats is relaxed and informal, so no need to change into a uniform. You’ll be working on the floor, running the daily café operations. You ensure the quality of our service and products, follow health, hygiene, and safety regulations (HACCP), and serve as the point of contact for guests. Werkplaats welcomes locals, hotel guests, and tenants of Broedplaats. You’ll be making delicious coffees and pouring the perfect beers for them. You’ll also keep an eye on the café’s spaces and ensure they remain tidy. Want to hang out after your shift? Great! Take a dip in our hot tubs and sauna on the eighth floor – employees can use them for free. Not ready to go home yet? No worries – as an employee, you get a discount on everything (programs, rooms, food, and drinks) in the hotel.

What we offer: 

This is a zero-hours contract for a minimum of 16 hours (two days) per week. Salary is according to the hospitality industry’s collective labor agreement (CAO) and in line with your responsibilities. As an employee of Volkshotel, you get a free night’s stay at the hotel once a year. Additionally, you can expect an extra vacation day, discounts on everything in the building, fun staff drinks, and the annual "Volks" birthday celebration.
